ViTA STARS Program at SALHN

The VITA STARS is in the VITA Building at the North-Eastern corner of the Repat Health Precinct. The wards are Balmoral (ground floor, beds 1-20) and Coral (first floor, beds 21-40).
For specific location information, see contact details.

You are supported to make choices about your future. Vita Stars Allied Health, Nursing and Medical teams provide support and therapy focussed on your own goals, with a focus on preparing for discharge home, or to other suitable accommodation.

What types of services are provided?

Nursing, medical and allied health teams support your assessment and progress throughout your admission

  • The medical team is supported by a Consultant Geriatrician and rotational Resident Medical Officers (RMOs).
  • Nursing care and assistance with personal care needs are provided as required
  • Allied health interventions will depend on your needs, but may include:
    • Physiotherapy
    • Occupational therapy
    • Social work
    • Dietetics
    • Speech Pathology
    • Music Therapy
    • Psychology
    • Podiatry
    • Allied Health Assistants

How long can I stay?

Your admission depends on your progress and your individual care needs. Your progress is reviewed regularly and can be adjusted depending on your needs. You will be supported to discharge home (with or without community services), or to other suitable accommodation if needed.

What if I’m already receiving services through a different program?

You are a SALHN inpatient while you are admitted to Vita Stars, and you cannot receive other services during this time. We will assist you to re-engage with any of your existing services when you are ready to discharge back to the community.

Who pays for my admission to ViTA STARS?

Vita Stars wards are public hospital wards, part of the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN). While you have goals and progress with your therapies, there is no cost. If you decide to move into longer term residential care, and/or no longer have therapy goals to work towards, a fee may be applied.
