Celebrating 50 Years of Flinders Medical Centre, Gala and Excellence Awards

The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) Excellence Awards reward and recognise individuals and teams who strive for exceptional care and are focused on working together to improve health and wellbeing for the communities we serve.

These Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of staff who are committed to the delivery of safe, appropriate, accessible care, from the first 1000 days to the last 1000 days, across our services.

In 2026, Flinders Medical Centre celebrates its 50th anniversary since opening in 1976 and this has presented an incredible opportunity to integrate the SALHN Excellence Awards with this special milestone as we acknowledge our past, celebrate the present – our wonderful staff and their achievements – and look to the future.

We look forward to acknowledging and celebrating the individuals and teams who make SALHN a unique leader in health care.

We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our partners, many of whom have been with us from the start of our journey – when the doors of FMC opened in 1976.

This year we are pleased to share that Flinders Foundation are supporting this event as our Platinum Partner. Their organisation and the unwavering support they show staff, patients and their families is an integral part of our history at SALHN. We have grown together over the years thanks to their generosity and the kindness of their donors.

We are also pleased to share that Flinders University will be joining us as a Gold Partner, with our intrinsically linked beginnings vital to shaping what our two organisations look like today. Co-located together on the one site, SALHN and Flinders University continue to drive forward health care innovation and research.

We are also delighted to have Bronze Partner, Adelaide University, and Supporters VollieCare and Adelaide PHN on board this year. They believe in the important work our staff do and want to celebrate their successes with SALHN.

This year’s awards finalists will be confirmed on Wednesday 9 September, with winners announced at the Celebrating 50 Years of Flinders Medical Centre Gala and Excellence Awards event on Friday 30 October at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The Awards ceremony was held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 7 November, and it was a wonderful moment to recognise and celebrate the deep pool of talent and dedication on display across our network. The event showcased the vibrant culture of continuous improvement and innovation at SALHN, driven by a shared commitment to better outcomes for patients, supporters, staff, and the sustainability of our services. The leadership, teamwork, and creativity on display were nothing short of inspiring.
