Nurses and Midwives Professional Practice Model at SALHN

The Professional Practice Model outlines a clear vision for the nursing and midwifery profession at Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) and lists six Fundamentals of Care to help achieve this vision.

These are:

  • Professional Governance
  • Collaborative Practice
  • Leadership
  • Learning, Research and Innovation
  • Person and Family Centred Care
  • Development and Recognition.

The Professional Practice Model has been developed by SALHN nurses and midwives together with our patients, families and carers, as a framework for excellence to strengthen clarity of purpose and as a unique depiction of the key components of practice across every care setting.

The model emerged through a platform of ‘caring conversations’ undertaken in partnership with Flinders University across December 2020 to July 2021.
