Some common strategies to support your wellbeing include:

  • Regular exercise, which can help your body process the cortisol and adrenaline released when you experience stress.
  • Practising mindfulness. Preventive Health SA has produced videos on practising mindfulness for adults and children that may help you get started.
  • Eat well and stay hydrated. Adult women need about 8 cups (around 2L) and adult men need about 10 cups (around 2.5L) of fluid a day, more during hot weather.
  • If you work at a desk, taking breaks from your desk throughout the day to stand and stretch.
  • Switching off from technology at least one-hour before bedtime.
  • Staying connected with family and friends, even if not face-to-face

All SA Health employees, and their immediate families, also have access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
