Social media for SALHN
The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) uses social media platforms to share information, create engagement and encourage dialogue between our Network and the communities we serve.
SALHN currently operates social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (previously Twitter), and YouTube.
These channels are used to further showcase the wonderful stories, staff and services we have within SALHN.
Social media policy terms and conditions of use
Content Management
Our social media sites are managed and operated by the SALHN Corporate Communications Branch. SALHN also uses other information channels and does not solely release news and announcements via social media.
Availability
SALHN monitors its social media sites during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm), excluding public holidays. Comments may be disabled on posts outside of these hours or when resources are unavailable.
The social media sites used by SALHN may occasionally be unavailable and SALHN accepts no responsibility or lack of service due to this downtime.

Comments, replies and direct messages
SALHN welcomes feedback from its followers. SALHN reads all comments, replies and direct messages and ensures that any emerging themes or helpful suggestions are forwarded to the relevant people in the organisation.
SALHN is not able to reply individually to all messages received and where common topics and requests exist, SALHN may issue a general notification. SALHN does not engage on issues of State or Federal politics, nor does it provide individual health and medical advice.

SALHN reserves the right to remove any content that does not comply with the SA Health Social Media Policy Terms and Conditions of Use. This includes comments, replies or direct messages that:
- contain hate speech
- contain profanity, obscenity or vulgarity
- could be considered prejudicial, racist or inflammatory
- contain nudity or offensive imagery including in profile pictures
- defame a person, people, or organisation
- contain name calling and/or personal attacks
- abuse, harass or threaten others
- intend or attempt to sell a product
- infringe on copyrights
- are considered spam comments/messages from individuals or groups, such as the same comment posted repeatedly across multiple posts
- contain or promote false information or faux science
- contain personal information (including identifying information, email addresses, phone numbers or private addresses)
- falsely represent another individual, organisation, government or entity
- promote a product, business, company or organisation.
Retweeting, sharing and following
SALHN may retweet and share content that contributes to the dissemination and exchange of useful information about health and related topics. SALHN considers requests to retweet or share on a case-by-base basis. Retweets and shares are not endorsements.
SALHN does not automatically follow organisations or individuals who follow it. Being followed by SALHN does not imply endorsement of any kind.
Link shortening
Unless they are already very short, SALHN will shorten URLs with commonly used link compressing services such as Bitly, Tiny URL or Brandwatch’s brnw.ch.
Privacy
SALHN captures and stores records of comments posted to its social media sites for records management purposes.
SALHN does not capture or record the contact details of parties following its social media sites unless the information is provided for direct contact purposes. Any information identified or deemed confidential or private is treated in accordance with SA Health’s Privacy Statement.
Disclaimer
In addition to the website disclaimer, the following conditions apply:
- All messages on social media sites should be considered public and visible to all for review, comment and share.
- SALHN reserves the right to amend, delete or block derogatory, offensive or defamatory material posted on any of its social media channels.
- Content posted by members of the public or organisations do not represent the official view of SALHN.
- Information posted on any of SALHN’s social media channels is not intended to be individual medical advice and should not be considered medical advice, nor is it intended to replace consultation with a qualified doctor or other health care professional.
