SA Health provides opportunities for nurses/midwives wishing to return to the workforce through a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved re-entry to practice pathway.
Support for re-entry to practice is conditional on employment in a SA Health Local Health Network (LHN); and may be available to eligible nurses and midwives who are required to complete a period of supervised practice or a NMBA approved re-entry to practice program as determined by the NMBA.

Eligibility
To be eligible for support, applicants must:
- have a letter from the NMBA stating requirements for a NMBA approved re-entry to practice pathway
- be an Australian citizen or in possession of a permanent residency visa (or equivalent) and be currently residing in SA; and
- agree to complete a period of supervised practice
OR:
- be required to undertake a re-entry to practice program as determined and approved by the NMBA.
- meet SA Health pre-employment screening checks.
- be successfully appointed to a position in a SA Health Local Health Network via a merit-based process.
