Clinical Specialisation Program

The Clinical Specialisation Program offers Registered Nurses and Midwives the opportunity to undertake a new accelerated pathway into clinical specialisation.

Program delivery is tailored to the SA Health environment and provides nurses and midwives the foundational skills to fast-track their journey into post graduate clinical specialisation qualifications.

eligibility: Registered Nurses and Midwives employed by SA Health
duration: 13 weeks (+ 2-week mid-course break)
Mode: Online (some courses may have face-to-face components)

Students can apply for one of the following degrees, with specialisation options:

You must have written support from your Line Manager and Director of Nursing / Midwifery (or Nursing / Midwifery Director) to apply for a scholarship in the Clinical Specialisation Program. The endorsement form can be found below. Please ensure you have received this endorsement before commencing your application.

Introduction to High Acuity Nursing and Midwifery, with the following subspecialties:
- Intensive Care

- Acute Care Nursing (offered Study Period 4 and 5)

- Neonatal for RNs and Midwives (offered Study Period 5)

The below courses are only available as either a self-funded option to SA Health Nurses and Midwives who have successfully completed a Clinical Specialisation Program scholarship or to those awarded a SA Health Recognising Academic Achievement scholarship:

Important dates

While delivered online this course requires ongoing participation. If you have leave booked during the Study period, consider applying for a different intake as scholarships cannot be deferred.

Note: Where demand is low, courses may be deferred by UniSA and recipients rescheduled to the next available offering.

SA Health Recognising Academic Achievement Scholarship - Extension to the Clinical Specialisation Program

To build on the foundations of the Clinical Specialisation Program, SA Health is providing additional scholarship funding to nurses and midwives who have demonstrated exemplary academic achievement in their studies.

The SA Health Recognising Academic Achievement Scholarships will provide additional scholarship funding for students completing a Clinical Specialisation Program Course to undertake a second 13-week, 9-unit Clinical Specialisation Program Course and be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Nursing/Midwifery.

Registered Nurses and Midwives will have the opportunity to undertake any one of the available clinical specialisation streams, offered as their second 9 unit Course as part of the Recognising Academic Achievement scholarship.

Cost

Successful applicants will receive a scholarship from SA Health to cover the cost of the tuition fees.

Any travel and/or accommodation expenses that may be incurred to facilitate experiential learning activities are not included in the scholarship.
