  • Provides Residential Care Facility consumers with quality and timely intervention

Consumer information

  • A duty worker is available 9:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday as first point of contact to discuss and advise on all aspects on Older Persons Mental Health Services.
  • Anyone can contact the service for assistance.
  • Referrals can be made in person, by fax, email or by telephone.

It is important to book an appointment with your general practitioner when thinking about referral to OPMHS as your GP will be responsible for ongoing treatment and care.

Referral information and eligibility

  • 65+ years (50+ years for indigenous people)
  • who have developed an acute mental illness later in life
  • or have longstanding mental health problems complicated by age related issues
  • or people under the age of 65 years who develop early onset dementia with associated psychiatric symptoms who are not open to another mental health service
