Nurse-led clinics at Gumeracha and Strathalbyn

Nurse-Led clinics are not an emergency service. In the case of a life-threatening illness or injury, ring 000 or attend your closest emergency department:
Gumeracha — Mount Barker, Gawler or Modbury hospitals
Strathalbyn  — Mount Barker

Nurse-led clinics provide local communities with access to urgent, non-emergency, weekend and weekday extended hours care — free of charge for Medicare cardholders.

Nurse-led clinics in the region are located at Gumeracha District Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital and Strathalbyn and District Health Service:

Please note:

  • Online bookings are available until 1:00pm each day. After this time, simply call one of our clinics to arrange a same-day appointment.
  • Online appointments can be booked up to 48 hours in advance.

If your preferred appointment time is unavailable or if you’re unsure whether our clinic services are appropriate for your needs, please phone the clinic directly.

We have two convenient locations:

  • Gumeracha District Soldiers' Memorial Hospital
    2 Albert Street, Gumeracha
  • Strathalbyn and District Health Service
    14 Alfred Place, Strathalbyn

Both of our clinics operate seven days a week with the following hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm
  • weekends and public holidays, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Our nurse-led clinics offer assessment, treatment and advice for a wide range of minor illnesses, injuries, and ongoing care. Services include, but are not limited to:

  • Common illnesses: coughs, colds, sore throats, influenza, gastro, urinary tract infections, tonsillitis
  • Minor injuries: cuts, abrasions, sprains, simple burns, simple limb injuries, bruises, and tetanus boosters (if required)
  • Skin and eye concerns: rashes, bites, stings, infections, conjunctivitis, and other skin conditions
  • Preventive and supportive care: flu vaccinations, wound dressings, IV medication administration, pathology collection, work and school certificates
  • Other services: sick certificates

If your care needs are outside the scope of our clinics, our team will guide you to the most appropriate service.

We encourage you to call ahead to speak with a nurse for advice or to schedule a visit. This helps us ensure that we can provide the best possible care during your visit.

Yes, our nursing staff have access to virtual medical support to consult with a doctor if necessary. This ensures that you receive comprehensive care and expert advice even for more complex issues.

Our clinics do not provide treatment for the following:

  • time-critical and/or life-threatening illnesses or injuries
  • motor vehicle accidents
  • paediatric services are not available for:
    • children under 5 (Gumeracha)
    • children under 10 (Strathalbyn)
  • mental health issues
  • drug and alcohol-related services.

No, our services are free of charge for Medicare-card holders. We aim to provide accessible and high-quality care to the community without any cost.
