Mental Health First Aid refresher training course

Mental Health First Aid refresher keeps participants up to date with mental health first aid knowledge, skills and information.

Participants will review and refresh their knowledge with how to use a practical, skills-based action plan, skills to recognise and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received, or the crisis resolves.

Facilitated by Mental Health Education Hub SA.

Target audience

A foundational course for staff who require a reaccreditation

Prerequisites

Successful completion of Mental Health First Aid (12 hours) within the 3 year refresher window.

Course length and delivery method

4 hours.

Only available face to face.

Outcomes

Topics covered include developing mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance use disorder.

Mental health crises covered:

suicidal thoughts and behaviours
non-suicidal self-injury
panic attacks
traumatic events
severe psychotic states
severe effects from alcohol or other drug use
aggressive behaviours.

Cost

$60.00 + GST
$0 for all SA public mental health workforce including placement students

An administration fee of $25.00 will apply to all participants if you do not attend without notice on the day, or cancel within 24 hours of the course commencing.

All registrations are to be submitted using the online form. If you experience any technical issues, email forms@sa.gov.au.

Relevant completion documentation is required at time of submission.

If you do not receive registration status correspondence within 10 working days of registering, or have any other issues email MentalHealthEducationHub@sa.gov.au.

The Mental Health Education Hub SA does not maintain waiting lists.
