Comprehensive Care in Mental Health workshop is an introduction into the components you may need to think about when conducting an initial assessment to ensure that you are providing consumers with Comprehensive Care. This will apply to all consumers who may present with psychological, physiological and psychosocial conditions.
Comprehensive Care in Mental Health workshop equips the health workforce with a greater knowledge and awareness how to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the whole person. The content covers a person centred and holistic approach towards the individual and all the factors that may contribute to their current presentation. The content provides a broad overview of the foundational concepts used when working with people who present with mental health and co-occurring conditions.
Target audience
A foundational course suitable for the multi-disciplinary health workforce.

Course length and delivery method
3 1/2 hours.
Available by Zoom or face to face.
Outcomes
- describe what a comprehensive assessment is and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health (ACSQH) standards around care
- to understand the importance of a holistic comprehensive assessment
- brief overview of the main tools used in a mental health assessment
- to briefly discuss person centred care, trauma informed and recovery principles
- to consider other important factors that may contribute to a person’s presentation to mental health services (eg: Substance use, medication history, cultural, culturally and linguistically diverse considerations)
- overview of how to use information for collaborative care planning.

An administration fee of $25.00 will apply to all participants if you do not attend without notice on the day, or cancel within 24 hours of the course commencing.
