Services provided by Central Yorke Peninsula Hospital (Maitland) include accident and emergency, medical and surgical care.

Patients may commence their stay at Maitland Hospital and Health Service but finish their care at one of the neighbouring hospitals with specialist medical or allied health input when required.
COVID-19 testing is available at the Central Yorke Peninsula Hospital. The service is available 24/7 An appointment is required. Please phone the hospital on 8832 0100 in the first instance. An assessment will be conducted over the phone and if the criteria are met an appointment will be made for testing or patients will be referred to the Emergency Department for ongoing treatment the patient is symptomatic.

In a medical emergency phone 000 and await ambulance attendance.
For all other presentations, when you arrive at the Maitland Hospital and Health Service accident and emergency service, you will be seen by a nurse to collect information and assess your illness or injury prior to seeing a doctor.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency you can present to the accident and emergency service at Maitland Hospital and Health Service.
Alternatively, telephone Remote Mental Health Service on 13 14 65 for mental health counselling, support and information 24 hours, 7 days.
Visitors play an important part in any patient’s hospital stay, and visitors are welcome.
Parking is available at the front of the hospital on Robert Street. There is also disabled parking available.
Maitland Hospital and Health Service has full disability access. If you have special needs and are unsure, please contact reception who will assist you with your specific enquiry.
The Yorke Peninsula Service Plan (PDF 677KB) was finalised and released to the community in January 2020. The Service Plan reflects the overarching future plan for the provision of health services in the central and lower Yorke Peninsula region. This plan was developed in collaboration with a range of stakeholders, including clinicians, nurses, the Yorke Peninsula Health Advisory Council, allied health staff, local Indigenous Australians and the public. We encourage the community to read the plan to inform themselves about the recent patterns of service delivery and the future health needs of the community.
