Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care to specialist surgical, obstetrics, outpatients and aged care beds.

Patients may commence their stay at Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital but finish their care at one of the neighbouring hospitals with specialist medical or allied health input when required. All hospitals in the area work collaboratively to support the patient care needs of the region.

Accident and emergency services

When you arrive at the Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital accident and emergency service, you will be seen by the registered nurse to collect information and assess your illness or injury prior to seeing a doctor.

Mental health emergencies

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency you can present to the accident and emergency service at Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.

Alternatively, contact the Rural and Remote Mental Health Service on 13 14 65 for mental health counselling, support and information 24 hours, 7 days.

Private patients

Visitors play an important part in any patient’s hospital stay, and visitors are welcome.

Any visitors who are required to be in the hospital building outside these hours will need to register at the admissions desk and receive an identity badge.

Murray Bridge Emergency Department Upgrade

The Murray Bridge Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Emergency Department is set to undergo a $7 million upgrade, with the Concept Plan now finalised.

A range of stakeholders have been consulted in the development of the Concept Plan, including Country Health SA staff, SA Ambulance Service, general practitioners, infection control specialists and the Murray Bridge Health Advisory Council, in alignment with national and international benchmarks for the proposed demand of 14,500 presentations per year.

The $7 million upgrade will more than double the size of the existing Emergency Department, and will include:

  • Two resuscitation bays (one more than currently available);
  • Seven treatment bays (four more than currently available);
  • Two procedure rooms;
  • Two consulting rooms;
  • Separate quiet room for vulnerable patients;
  • Relatives room;
  • Access toilet and shower facilities;
  • Ambulance lobby;
  • Nurses station;
  • Clean and dirty utility rooms;
  • Equipment storage area;
  • Staff room, offices, change room and bathroom facilities;
  • Dedicated waiting room.

Following the release of the concept plan, it’s anticipated that the Emergency Department design development will occur between October 2018 and February 2019, with construction tenders to follow.

Construction on the new Emergency Department is expected to begin in mid-2019.
