Barmera Health Service provides acute services ranging from in-hospital care for adults and children by local general practitioners to outpatients and aged care beds.
Patients may commence their stay at Barmera Health Service but finish their care at one of the neighbouring Riverland hospitals with specialist medical or allied health input when required. All hospitals in the Riverland work collaboratively to support the patient care needs of the region.
COVID-19 testing is available at the Barmera Health Service. The service is available from Monday to Friday 1.30 to 2.30pm. On the weekends, patients will be redirected to the Berri drive-through collection centre. By appointment only.

In a medical emergency phone 000 and await ambulance attendance
The Barmera Health Service Emergency Department temporarily closed at 6:00pm on Wednesday 1 April 2020 to decrease the risk of COVID-19 transmission to our aged care residents.
Always call Triple Zero in an emergency. Your nearest operating Emergency Department is at Riverland General Hospital at 10 Maddern Street in Berri.
Mental health emergencies
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency you can present to the accident and emergency service at Barmera Health Service.
Alternatively, contact the Rural and Remote Mental Health Service on 13 14 65 between 8.30am and 6.00pm for mental health counselling, support and information .
Parking is available at the front of the hospital as well as additional parking on Hawdon Street. There is also disabled parking on site.
