Suitable for clinical staff who have completed SFBT part 1 & 2.

3 hours Zoom or Face to face course, facilitated by SA Mental Health Training Centre.

Workshop Summary

This course aims to utilise the skills of Solution Focused Brief Therapy at an experienced clinician level when working with a consumer /client. Many primary mental health services are time poor and see consumers for a brief period, a solution focused approach is an effective model which fits well with services that require an evidenced based model that can be delivered in a brief time frame unlike traditional cognitive behaviour models.

Solution focused approaches are easy to understand and are flexible to fit with the person who is looking for a way forward and may not benefit from a more in-depth cognitive approach.

Using a solution focused approach may help a person identify and recognise their own internal competencies, skills, and resources, as well as their immediate support networks.

The clinician takes a view that the person is at the centre of care and their role is to guide the person on a journey to find a workable & achievable solution to help in their recovery.
