Information for RMCLHN Consumer Representatives
The Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network (RMCLHN) is committed to engaging and partnering with consumers, carers and the community and values the positive contributions they make to help us improve health care services in our region.
RMCLHN regularly consults with internal and external stakeholders on plans and strategies during the development phase.
Are you looking for a plan or strategy? See the plans and strategies page.
The Riverland Mallee Coorong Local Health Network (RMCLHN) has developed a draft Diversity Equity and Inclusion Plan (DEIP) 2026-2029 and draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2026-2029.
The DEIP is an internal and external facing plan which provides a unified framework to strengthen culturally safe, person centred, and inclusive care across all RMCLHN services.
It also integrates workforce and consumer diversity initiatives and reflects RMCLHN’s commitment to delivering equitable, high-quality care for all people.
The DEIP aligns with the SA Public Sector Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy 2023-2026 that has four priority areas:
It outlines RMCLHN’s commitment to these priority areas to increase workforce diversity and inclusion through a variety of initiatives, increase representation of underrepresented groups, retain emerging talent and corporate knowledge, and ensure an inclusive work and care service environment.
The DEIP actively supports RMCLHN staff to feel valued and respected for who they are, and to work unimpeded by issues of racism, discrimination based on sexuality, gender, culture or religion, exclusion, and feelings of being unsafe.
It also describes actions and strategies, common to all diverse groups, to increase diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The DEIP will guide RMCLHN in addressing inequities, enhancing service quality, and supporting continuous improvement across all areas of care.
Through strong governance, workforce capability initiatives, consumer engagement, and system level planning, RMCLHN will continue to advance inclusive, person centred, culturally safe care for all individuals, families, and communities across the region.
The DEIP is also aligned with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards (ACQS), National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Practice Standards, and the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, ensuring organisational compliance and strengthening RMCLHN’s capacity to deliver high quality care.
The DEIP includes a number of actions and outcomes aligned with priority areas and details about the timeframes, measurable targets and responsibility.

The DAIP is an internal and external facing plan, that builds on RMCLHN’s continued commitment to sustaining the rights of people living with disability to access quality healthcare.
It encompasses what we will do to ensure people living with disability have the same opportunities as others to access, and be included in, quality services, events, information, buildings and facilities, consultation, complaints processes and employment.
The DAIP describes our commitment to move beyond minimum access and inclusion requirements, ensuring that South Australians of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to live connected and fulfilled lives.
It identifies the actions to be taken by RMCLHN to ensure we become an employer of choice for people living with disability, by identifying and removing unintended barriers, and supporting and encouraging staff within the workplace.
The DAIP is aligned to the Inclusive State Disability Inclusion Plan 2025-2029, the Disability Inclusion Act 2018 and the SA Autism Strategy 2024-2029.
The DAIP includes a number of actions aligned to domains, with priority areas, measures, timeframes and a responsibility for implementation.
It also includes focus areas aligned to the Autism Strategy Action Plan focus areas, with commitments, target dates, measures and a responsibility for implementation.

RMCLHN developed and launched a Diversity and Inclusion Plan (DIP) (internal) and Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) (internal and external) in 2022, following broad consultation, in support of the South Australian Public Sector Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2019-21 and State Disability Inclusion Plan 2019-2023. The DAIP 2026-2029 will replace the DAIP 2022-2025.
