Blood, Organ and Tissue Programs
Blood, Organ and Tissue Programs has strategic responsibility for the management, use and supply of blood and blood products and organ and tissue related services across South Australia. This includes financial responsibility for blood and blood products used in public, private and community settings in SA.
What we do
Our work encompasses managing statewide programs, providing advice and education, developing policy, administering legislation, and partnering with service providers, government agencies and the non-government sector to identify and respond to current and emerging issues in the blood, organ and tissue sectors.
We act as an interface between the South Australian Department for Health and Wellbeing and major local, interstate and Commonwealth agencies, including:
- Australian Red Cross Lifeblood
- the National Blood Authority
- the Therapeutic Goods Administration
- the Australian Organ and Tissue Authority
- DonateLife in SA
- public and private hospitals and their staff
- public and private pathology providers and their staff.
