Sepsis clinical education

Clinical recognition of sepsis can be challenging and this collation of sepsis education resources for health professionals aims to support increased awareness of sepsis across all health settings and includes tools to implement the National Sepsis Clinical Care Standard.

Online sepsis education

For SA Health clinicians: an SA Health online sepsis education module is available on iLearn. Check your Local Health Network e-learning platform for other sepsis education modules.

For Primary Care workers: the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) Sepsis in Primary Care free online module (requires free Medcast account set-up), steps through paediatric, pregnancy and post sepsis syndrome clinical scenarios for primary care workers.

Implementing the National Sepsis Clinical Care Standard

To help healthcare services implement the Sepsis Clinical Care Standard, the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) has released a Self-Assessment tool and Indicator Monitoring tool.

The Sepsis Clinical Care Standard provides guidance to clinicians and health service organisations when investigating and managing sepsis, and information to consumers about the care they can expect to receive.
