Riverland Mallee Coorong Hospitals and Health Services

River Murray flood information - Major Emergency Declaration November 2022

Renmark
Renmark Paringa District Hospital is the only facility within RMCLHN considered to be at risk of flooding from the Murray River. We have contingency plans in place for the relocation of aged care residents, and have commenced stage one relocations.

Stage one involves the orderly relocation of residents with significant mobility issues or other impairments to alternative facilities within RMCLHN, or to a requested residential address/family home. We are in continued discussion with residents, families and carers regarding these plans.

RMCLHN has put a temporary hold on non-urgent admissions to Renmark Paringa District Hospital and patients will instead be admitted into other Riverland hospitals. Patients currently admitted to Renmark Hospital are not impacted.

Loxton and Berri
Services at Loxton Hospital Complex will not be impacted in the event of flooding due to its elevated position. The Complex includes an Emergency Department and other services that will continue to operate as normal. People in Loxton should dial Triple Zero (000) in an emergency or alternatively present to the Loxton Hospital Complex Emergency Department which is open 24/7.

There are some regional services at Riverland General Hospital that people from Loxton may need to access, such as renal dialysis or chemotherapy. Anyone in the Loxton community accessing these services is advised to keep informed, and factor in additional travel time to their journey if required due to road closures.

All other RMCLHN sites
All other RMCLHN health sites are situated on high ground where there is no risk of flooding from the Murray River.

Community Health Services
Country Health Connect and Community Health Services will continue uninterrupted throughout the Murray River flood event. In some circumstances, services will be provided in different locations or at a different frequency. Any changes will be communication directly to Community Health clients.

Residents in the Riverland Murray Mallee area have access to a wide range of health care services in a number of locations throughout the region.

These services include accident and emergency, day and inpatient surgery, Aboriginal Health, obstetric services, community health and aged care services.

The main health hubs for the area are located in Berri and Murray Bridge with other facilities located nearby.
