The primary functions of the Public Health Partnerships Branch are to:
develop, maintain and coordinate Public Health Partner Authorities across state government, the non-government sector, university sector and private enterprises
In collaboration with Department of the Premier and Cabinet, develop mechanisms and structures to systematise Health in All Policies principles, processes and practices in government policy and planning, in line with section 17 of the Act.
support the health care system to develop specific and targeted prevention strategies
Local Government Relations and Policy(LGR&P) works with the Local Government Association of SA (the LGA) to ensure a responsive, supportive service for local councils, as local public health authorities for their areas, in administering their responsibilities under the South Australian Public Health Act 2011. Through its lead relationship with the LGA, LGR&P supports local councils in their administration of the South Australian Public Health Act 2011 and to develop and successfully implement Regional Public Health Plans for their areas. LGR&P:
tailors consultation, advice and engagement with local government on the development of Regional Public Health Plans (RPHP) and relevant issues, including vulnerable populations and health equity
contributes to public health policy, legislation, and advice that supports local councils in their implementation of the South Australian Public Health Act 2011
communicates with local government and other stakeholders on public health planning issues, identified in the RPHP process, in collaboration with the LGA
partners with local councils, through the LGA, and with other stakeholders to enhance local government capacity to act on public health priorities
assists with public health system building actions including evaluation, monitoring and reporting.
