Please note this is not an exhaustive list of all conditions for outpatient services and does not exclude consideration for referral unless specifically stipulated in the allergy and immunology exclusions section.

Out of scope
Not all medical conditions are covered by the CPC, as certain conditions may be considered out of scope or managed by other specialist services.
- general anaesthetic allergy testing – consider referral to Anaesthetics
- contact dermatitis or metal allergy testing – consider referral to Dermatology
- chronic cough – consider referral to Respiratory
- atopic eczema if mild or moderate and the sole problem – consider referral to Dermatology
- systemic autoinflammatory disorders – refer to the Autoinflammatory Disease — Rheumatology CPC for further information
- general anaesthetic allergy testing – refer to Anaesthetics at Flinders Medical Centre
- contact dermatitis or metal allergy testing – consider referral to Dermatology
- known or suspected Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) – refer to Infectious Diseases
Exclusions for public specialist outpatient services
Not all immunology and allergy-related conditions are appropriate for referral into the South Australian public health system. The following are not routinely provided in a public specialist outpatient service.
- irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)/suspected food intolerance, except on referral or recommendation from gastroenterologist
- large local reactions to insect stings without anaphylaxis
- chronic fatigue syndrome/multiple chemical sensitivity/fibromyalgia, except where there is a good reason to suspect allergy, autoimmunity or immunodeficiency
- acute or chronic urticaria which has remitted, unless allergic cause suspected
- known or suspected human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
- isolated pruritus
- elevated antinuclear antibody (ANA) in absence of clinically relevant problem
- irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)/suspected food intolerance
- isolated urticaria without trial of medical management and/or in remission, has remitted without trialled medical management
- chronic cough
- asthma unless referred by a

- isolated pruritis and non-specific rashes
- screening for allergies based on family history, see National Allergy Council Nip Allergies In The Bub
- patients with eosinophilia, high total IgE, positive IgE to aeroallergens but no symptoms
- review of or second opinions regarding anaphylaxis/allergy management plan previously provided following assessment by an Allergist/Immunologist with a management plan, except on the request of the treating Allergist/Immunologist
