General physicians have a breadth and depth of knowledge and experience which makes them ideally suited to providing high quality specialist services across a spectrum of health and illness, which is not limited by the boundaries of medical sub specialties.

General Medicine services specialise in the care of patients with complex multi-system disorders, undifferentiated illness and uncertain diagnosis. An inter-professional team approach and collaboration with other disciplines is used to provide comprehensive holistic care across the following services:

  • Assessment and admissions from the Emergency Department for patient with multiple medical problems
  • Inpatient consultations for other units
  • Outpatient clinics
  • Participation in the MER service to assess and treat deteriorating patients in our hospital.
  • Excellent education and training opportunities with exposure to a wide range of medicine and a large number of committed clinical educators.

Referrals are carefully triaged to determine the best time frame and service, please provide details about the reason for referral so we can advise the best pathway.
