Menopause

Menopause is a natural part of every woman’s life. It marks the end of the reproductive years and usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55.

Women’s Health services can provide helpful information on looking after your health and wellbeing before, during and after menopause.

Women approaching the menopause, or experiencing symptoms should ask their GP for information on therapies that can help with symptoms.

Checkups

Women should see their GP for regular pap smears and breast checks. Breast screening mammograms are provided by Breast Screen SA. Women are also at greater risk of heart disease following the menopause, ask your doctor about your risk factors and find out more from the Heart Foundation.
