Wash, Wipe, Cover information supports good infection prevention and control actions that can assist in minimising the risk of the spread of infections including respiratory illnesses such as colds, influenza and gastrointestinal illnesses such as viral gastro.
Germs can be spread in many ways, including by hands, contaminated surfaces or by droplets produced when coughing or sneezing.
To help control the spread of germs:
- Wash hands / perform hand hygiene
- Wipe / clean environmental surfaces
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or use your elbow
In addition, if possible, stay home when you are sick and also seek medical advice as required.
