Mental Health ECHO
A shared learning and professional support community for healthcare professionals working with people living with a mental illness. This program focused on mental illness management in the context of the national Equally Well action to improve the mental and physical health of people living with mental illness.
Sessions were held monthly and were free to healthcare professionals across all disciplines.
The online ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) meetings connect healthcare professionals with a panel of experts to share and learn from each other through education and real-life case discussions.
Topics discussed
The program ran for 10 sessions, across 2023 and 2024 and the following topics were discussed:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health
- Perinatal anxiety and depression
- Psychotic disorders vs delirium
- Youth eating disorders
- Psychotropics and cardiometabolic effects
- ADHD in children
- ADHD in adults
- Addiction and substance abuse in trauma and anxiety
- Tobacco cessation in mental health population
- Mental Health and Physical Health, things we don’t often think about
