SA Cancer Plan
Following extensive consultation and collaboration across the sector, SA Health has developed the SA Cancer Plan 2025-2029 (PDF 572KB).
The plan provides clear guidance and consistency for SA Health and its partners about the priorities, future direction and approach to cancer care in South Australia.
It provides an agreed vision and direction for all elements of cancer care including prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care as well as cancer data collection, research and clinical trials.
The five-year plan will guide future decisions on service planning, resource allocation and where publicly funded cancer services need to be delivered.
The project has been led by the Department for Health and Wellbeing, under the guidance of a Project Board and in partnership with the Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health and the Cancer Statewide Clinical Network.
Objectives
The objectives of the five-year plan are to:
- Enhance prevention and early diagnosis of cancer.
- Improve the cancer experience for those diagnosed with cancer and their families / carers.
- Improve quality of survivorship for those who have experienced cancer.
