The Responding to Suspected or Alleged Offences Against a Child or Young Person Occurring at an SA Health Facility or Service Policy (PDF 366KB) provides the mandatory requirements to ensure SA Health staff understand and assume their legal obligations under the Criminal Law Consolidation Act 1935 and the Children and Young Peoples (Safety) Act 2017. This policy mandates SA Health staff to undertake actions to protect children and young people from harm and the risk of harm by responding to suspected or alleged criminal offences against a child or young person or abuse occurring at an SA Health facility or service.
Applicability
This policy applies to all employees, students, volunteers, and contractors and all persons otherwise engaged to work at SA Health; that is, the Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW), Local Health Networks (LHNs) including state-wide services aligned with those Networks and SA Ambulance Service (SAAS).
