Health Record Management Policy

The Health Record Management Policy (PDF 316KB) outlines the mandatory access, management and integrity requirements for health records, in accordance with the expectations of consumers and legislative requirements.

Applicability

This policy applies to all SA Health employees (including contractors, students, volunteers, consultants, employment agency staff, providers of outsourced services and others) with authority to access, create, modify, facilitate or handle a health record within the Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW) , Local Health Networks (LHNs) including state-wide services aligned with those Networks and SA Ambulance Service (SAAS).

Unless specified, this policy applies equally to new and existing health records regardless of format - electronic, hybrid or paper based.
