Version 1.0 approved 03 December 2023
The Asset Management: Biomedical Technology Maintenance Planning Policy (PDF 483KB) provides the mandatory requirements which apply in relation to the maintenance of biomedical technology and test equipment. The maintenance planning process mitigates lifetime risks of biomedical technology and ensures consistency across SA Health sites. The process optimises availability, safety and regulatory compliance of biomedical technologies and ensures controlled risks resulting from their application are within SA Health’s acceptable limits.
This Policy works with the Asset Management Policy to set requirements for managing risk specific to biomedical technology (such as the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) - listed medical devices managed by a Biomedical Technology Management Group (BME)) and medical-related devices.
This policy applies to all employees and contracted staff of SA Health; that is all employees and contracted staff of the Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW), Local Health Networks (LHNs) including state-wide services aligned with those Networks and SA Ambulance Service (SAAS).
