Constitution for the Mid North Health Service Advisory Council Inc, including membership structures, proceedings, and definitions
The Mid North Health Advisory Council (HAC) came into being on 1st July 2008, after the State Government’s Health Care Act 2008 removed the governance of local hospitals from local Boards and established Health Advisory Councils to represent the local communities.
The ownership of the property of the hospitals and aged care facilities, is vested in the Health Advisory Council. It also manages funds donated or fundraised by the community, for use at the facilities.
The Health Advisory Council seeks to represent community needs and where necessary, to advocate for improvements, to Country Health SA or the Minister for Health.
The Mid North Health Advisory Council draws its membership from the communities of Booleroo Centre, Jamestown, Orroroo and Peterborough. It is concerned with the delivery of health services and outcomes in those areas, and especially with the services emanating from the hospitals in each of those towns, and the aged care facilities at the Orroroo Community Home and Nalya Lodge at Peterborough.
