A shared understanding about rehabilitation & recovery & how partnerships between all stakeholders will enable the development of services
Rehabilitation services for people with a mental illness are provided in a variety of settings, from community and in-home support to residential or secure living and rehabilitation services.
SA Health funds a range of non-government organisations to provide psychosocial support at home, whether public or private housing, family or shared home, boarding house or supported residential facility.
Planning and works are underway for the development of 72 new mental health rehabilitation beds in Adelaide’s north, west and south. The $124-million commitment will see three 24-bed units built and opened at Modbury Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Noarlunga Hospital.
The **Community Rehabilitation Centres (CRCs) (PDF xxKB) are community-based residential, rehabilitation facilities with 20 places, which are accessed through referrals from your Community Mental Health team. The aim of CRCs is to support the recovery from mental illness of people with high and complex needs. CRCs offer a residential setting with 24-hour, seven-day support and an active goal-focused rehabilitation program. Support is individually tailored to meet people’s needs.
SA Health works in partnership with individuals, mental health services, non-government organisations and housing and tenancy organisations on supported accommodation programs that benefit people with mental health needs, including accommodation at Avalon and Catherine House.
