Orthotics and prosthetics services
Orthotics and Prosthetics SA (OPSA) provides treatment for people with limb difference or amputation, and for all orthotic needs. Our team includes credentialed OPSA practitioners who design, manufacture and improve the fit and function of prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (splints, braces).
Services available
OPSA services include:
- paediatric and adult treatment
- upper and lower limb specialties
- myo-electric expertise with individualised contemporary solutions
OPSA can assist funding co-ordination for your outpatient services for eligible clients (for example, National Disability Insurance Agency, SA Amputee Limbs Scheme, Department of Veterans' Affairs and WorkCover).

Central Adelaide Local Health Network
Services are available by appointment Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.15 pm.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital also provides outreach services to The Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) and Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre (HRC).

Referrals are accepted from a General Practitioner, specialist or allied health practitioner. Use the Orthotic Service referral form (DOC 35KB) or the Prosthetic Service referral form (PDF 40KB).

To access Northern Adelaide Rehabilitation Service Orthotics and Prosthetics clinic, you must be referred by a General Practitioner or specialist through the Prosthetic Rehabilitation Clinic. Complete the referral form (PDF 32KB) and submit via:

Southern Adelaide Local Health Network
A specialist rehabilitation medicine clinic is also available on site for assessments and ongoing management of rehabilitation conditions. OPSA provides the inpatient and acute services to SALHN clients, and provides rehabilitation treatment at Flinders Medical Centre.
Services are available by appointment Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.

To access this service, you need a referral from a GP, specialist or allied health practitioner.

Note: Funding bodies such as private health funds, Department of Veterans Affairs and Workcover often require that you access our services through a medical referral. Please check your eligibility for funding before your first visit as clients are responsible for associated costs.

The Whyalla Orthotic & Prosthetic Team provide a visiting service at the Ceduna Community Health Service, approximately every two months. Names can be added to the list at the Orthotic & Prosthetic Department.

The Whyalla Orthotic & Prosthetic Team provide a weekly service to the Port Augusta Hospital servicing the people of the Far North. Appointments are made through the Orthotic & Prosthetic Department and are conducted at the Allied Health area at the Port Augusta Hospital.

The Whyalla Orthotic & Prosthetic Team provide a visiting service which is conducted every third Thursday at the Port Lincoln Hospital’s Physiotherapy Department. Appointments are made through the Orthotic & Prosthetic Department.
