Wallaroo Hospital and Health Services is part of the Yorke and Lower North Health Services. Our hospital is a 21 bed complex and is located with a seven bed private hospital.  We have inpatient care in general medicine for adults and children, as well as palliative care.

Accident and emergency

A 24-hour service is provided.

When you arrive at the emergency department you will be seen by the duty nurse and triaged to collect information and assess your illness or injury.

In a medical emergency, it is important not to ‘self present’ to hospital. SA Ambulance Service emergency medical dispatch support officers can provide advanced first-aid advice over the phone while an ambulance is on its way to you.

A dedicated emergency doctor is now available 24/7 at Wallaroo to help meet the growing demand for emergency medical services.

This interim locum staffing arrangement will be in place while we develop a sustainable medical workforce model.

Car parking

Parking is available onsite.

Disabled access

The building is wheelchair accessible and there are toilets for people with disability. Please ask at Reception.

Wallaroo Service Plan

The Wallaroo Service Plan (PDF 1MB) was finalised and released to the community in May 2019. The Service Plan reflects the overarching future plan for the provision of health services in the Wallaroo region and was developed in collaboration with a range of stakeholders, including clinicians, nurses, the local Health Advisory Council, allied health staff, local Indigenous Australians and the public. We encourage the community to read the plan to inform themselves about the recent patterns of service delivery and the future health needs of the community.
