Clinical Placement for Student Health Professionals Policy

Version 1.0 approved 14 July 2023

Clinical education and placements are integral to the training of student health professionals, facilitating the integration of theory and practice. SA Health is committed to providing teaching and training opportunities across the Local Health Networks (LHNs). The Clinical Placement for Student Health Professionals Policy (PDF 226KB) outlines the mandatory requirements that SA Health staff must follow to facilitate student clinical placements. Non-compliance with this policy could have legal and insurance implications and may result in a placement being cancelled or delayed.

Applicability

This policy applies to all employees and contracted staff of SA Health; that is all employees and contracted staff of the Department for Health and Wellbeing, Local Health Networks (including state-wide services aligned with those Networks) and SA Ambulance Service.

Out of scope of this policy are clinical placements for the purpose of professional development in accordance with the Performance Review and Development Policy, and clinical placements for student health professionals from international Education Providers.
