Cultural evolution pathway

The Cultural Evolution Pathway (the Pathway) aims to support Governing Boards, Local Health Networks (LHNs), SA Ambulance Service (SAAS), Statewide Clinical Support Services (SCSS) and the Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW) to develop an integrity culture at scale.

The Pathway is a key component of the SA Health Integrity Program, established to guide improvements to our governance and culture.

Release of the Pathway is the first step to a system wide commitment to a culture of integrity across all areas of SA Health. LHNs, SAAS, SCSS and DHW will look at how they can build on the Pathway at the local level.

This commitment, supported by all Board Chairs, the DHW Chief Executive and Chief Executive Officers, provides the foundation to establish a compelling vision of a culture of integrity.

As SA Health enters its second year of devolution, the Pathway recognises the significant work already underway across the system in cultivating and developing local culture. LHNs and the DHW will benefit from both sharing best practice and optimising investment.

Staff in LHNs, SAAS, SCSS and the DHW have been involved in the Pathway’s development. This feedback has informed the five key focus areas that underpin the Pathway, strengthening our effort towards these key aspects.

Development of the Pathway has been led by Dr Mike Cusack and supported by a Cultural Reform Reference Group, including LHN Chief Executive Officers and the Commissioner of Public Sector Employment.
