Heart Foundation: The Heart Foundation will provide support and advice on the establishment of walking group/s, development of walking paths and support for community events and activities.

Project overview:

The project will upgrade the existing Wudinna to Polda Rock shared pathway, which will include having the pathway start from the middle of the Wudinna township and enhance other elements with information signage, ‘rest pods’, directional signage and surface improvement works.  A shared pathway and an interpretation/display pod will also be installed at Tcharkuldu Rock located just out of the township of Minnipa.  These enhancements will build community and visitor interest and use of the pathways in the broader district.

The project will include regular promotion of the shared pathways and development of healthy walking programs to encourage awareness and participation in walks.  Related events will be held, linked to existing community days and events, such as Australia Day, National Tree Planting Day and Health Promotion Days.  Wudinna District Council will become a Heart Foundation Walking Host, including securing local people to facilitate walking groups and other shared pathway activities.

A long term aim of this project is to contribute to chronic disease prevention by addressing physical inactivity and to contribute to community interaction and wellbeing.
