Nuclear Medicine Services at Flinders Medical Centre
The Nuclear Medicine Department provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures to inpatients and outpatients of Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders Private Hospital. Patients referred from General practitioners and specialists are also welcome.
The department has modern imaging systems, including a hybrid SPECT/CT system which provides state-of-the-art imaging technology. Flinders Medical Centre is a leader in radionuclide therapy, in particular radioactive iodine for treatment of thyroid cancer and overactive thyroid glands.
Most procedures require an injection of a radioactive tracer into a vein in your arm, and procedures may take up to 4 hours to complete. More detailed instructions will be provided on booking.
All patients must have a referral letter from a medical practitioner before a booking can be made.
