Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Service
The Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Service is located on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula in Whyalla.
The Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Service is an initiative of the South Australian Government. It is part of the South Australian Government’s strategy to reform mental health services and to provide a stepped model of care to regional South Australians at a location closer to home.
The service offers a safe and supported residential environment to assist people work towards independent living. The service involves people living in our residential accommodation, each housing 1-3 residents, and promotes self-managed health and positive decision-making. Specialist mental health clinicians, support workers, peer support workers, and cultural workers will produce individually tailored rehabilitation assessments and services. The program is fully supported by a team of local health professionals and other carers. The program team is available every day.
The service supports people who may have been living independently in the community but require a more supported environment to enhance their living skills, or those who may have completed their stay in hospital and are ready for community based treatment and rehabilitation. The service is available to all residents living in regional South Australia, not just those from Whyalla.
