Testimonial: Parmjit Singh's story
Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, BreastScreen SA is sharing the stories of South Australian women personally affected by breast cancer to raise awareness of the importance of breast screening.
My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer 20 years ago.
If it wasn’t for the early detection and breast screening program offered by BreastScreen SA, she would not be here today to see her children get married and her three amazing grandsons. So now my mum and I go together to have our mammograms.
Breast cancer has affected so many women in the Punjabi community. Not all have been fortunate like my mum and survived. This is why I am so determined to raise awareness about the importance of breast screening.
I tell women, cancer does not mean death, early detection can save lives. So take the time every two years and have a breast screen, don’t put it off. Invest in your health so that you are around for those who love you the most
