Screen to Win with BreastScreen SA in Mammo-th March!
Thursday 27 February 2020
BreastScreen SA is expecting to have its largest March ever, aiming to provide more than 8000 screening mammograms to South Australian women aged 50 to 74.
To encourage women to put their health first, those who screen during Mammo-th March will have the chance to win one of three pre-paid Visa cards worth $1000ea. To be in the running, women simply need to call 132050 to book an appointment and to screen by Tuesday 31 March 2020.
BreastScreen SA Promotions and Education Manager, Karen Woodcock, says it’s a great opportunity for women to prioritise their health, especially during ‘Mad March’ when we’re often busy with social events.
‘Having a breast screen every two years has been proven to save lives,’ she said.
‘It’s about finding those very small breast changes early, before a woman even knows that they’re there. This can then increase her options for treatment and give her better health outcomes overall.’
Ms Woodcock acknowledges that the hardest part for many women is finding the time to do it.
‘When you’re not symptomatic and there’s no problems, prioritising an appointment amongst work and caring for family and friends becomes very difficult.
‘That’s why we’re stepping up our afterhours appointments in March to allow more women to screen when it’s convenient , rather than organising time off work to do so.
‘We’re celebrating by giving women the chance to win one of three pre-paid Visa cards, to encourage those women who may be delaying their regular breast screen. For those who do take time to screen may be rewarded for looking after themselves.’
‘It really is a win-win.’
BreastScreen SA has seven clinics across the metropolitan area, with three mobile units that travel across the state every two years. Appointments are open to all women aged over 40 who have no symptoms of breast cancer.
