PCR testing

PCR testing is the gold standard for detecting COVID-19 in the community.

You should get a PCR test as soon as possible if you have any COVID-19 symptoms. This applies to all people with symptoms, including close contacts.

You also need to get a PCR test if you have COVID-19 symptoms and test negative on a rapid antigen test.

You must also get a PCR test if you are directed to by SA Health or SA Police.

You must quarantine until you receive a negative result. If you are in quarantine, you need to remain in quarantine until the end of your required period even if you return a negative test result.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, stay at home until you are well.

You may also get a PCR test if you are required to as part of a permit application to enter the APY lands. If you are accessing a PCR test for this reason, you do not need to isolate until you receive your test result.
