Short Term Restorative Care

The Commonwealth Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) Programme is a short-term (eight week) service available to older people in the community from 27 February 2017.

The aim is to improve the capacity and independence of older people, to enable them to remain living in, or return to, their homes. STRC is a goal orientated, multi-disciplinary and coordinated package of services approved to the care recipient.

The STRC complements the Commonwealth Transition Care Programme (TCP) that is accessed from a hospital setting.

STRC is about providing early intervention care that seeks to optimise the function and independence of older people and reverse and/ or slow functional decline, thereby preventing or delaying permanent placement in a residential care facility.
