Planning Ahead - Safeguard Your Patient’s Rights
Planning Ahead Week 10 – 16 September 2018
Planning Ahead Week is about encouraging the community to take control of their future. It means that their health, financial, legal and personal choices will be known in advance and acted on if they are unable to express themselves at some time in the future. Talk to your patients about their options.
How Do I Plan Ahead?
It is important for all adults to understand the benefits of early planning. Various legal tools are available to help secure future health, financial, legal and personal choices – such as:
- an Enduring Power of Attorney
- an Advance Care Directive or information for Health Care Professionals
- a Will, and
- registration for organ and tissue donation or for Health Care Professionals
