Corticosteroid Induced Psychosis and Psychiatric Effects

30 July 2019

A recent Coroner’s case involving a patient prescribed dexamethasone has highlighted the importance for clinicians to be aware of the symptoms of corticosteroid induced psychosis and psychiatric effects, and in particular the timing of symptom onset.

SA Health has prepared a Medication Safety Notice to raise awareness of the symptoms, onset, incidence, risk factors and duration of symptoms:

Medication Safety Notice 02/19: Corticosteroid Induced Psychosis and Psychiatric Effects
