Facilitated by clinicians from Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia (DASSA) Comorbidity Inreach Service.

The presenters are experienced DASSA Clinicians with post graduate qualifications in Addiction and Mental Health.

Workshop aim

To equip clinicians with a greater knowledge and awareness of alcohol and other drugs and provide a broad overview of the foundational concepts used when working with people who use alcohol and/or other drugs.

Workshop outcomes

  • Describe why people use substances, including patterns of use
  • To identify drug categories
  • To understand the importance of AOD Assessment
  • To be aware of values and myths for individuals with AOD issues
  • Describe the policy and practice of harm minimisation
  • Be familiar with AOD resources and referral pathways.
