The SA Maternal Neonatal Gynaecology Community of Practice (MNGCOP) is representative of a multidisciplinary team of health care clinicians, from metropolitan and country health working in maternity, neonatal and gynaecology care who are responsible for developing a sustainable, high quality, equitable state wide perinatal and gynaecology services in South Australia.

The MNGCOP provides statewide direction for maternity, neonatal and gynaecology services within South Australia guiding and informing SA Health priorities and plans for the delivery of safe, quality care, including clinical commissioning and emerging strategies. This group is also facilities the construction and routine review of statewide clinical and policy directives.

The MNGCOP is supported by a Maternal Neonatal Gynaecology Clinical Reference Group (MNGCRG) that provides committed clinical leadership toward statewide reform through effective consumer and community participation in the MNGCOP work plan activities, work groups and strategies.

Perinatal clinicians are supported by a the SA Perinatal Practice Guideline Management Group that was established in 2001 to produce agreed, standard and evidence-based perinatal and neonatal practice guidelines for use across all public health units in South Australia. These practice guidelines outline the principles for pregnancy and newborn care and management of associated conditions, including procedural guidelines as necessary. These are available on the

Perinatal Practice Guidelines web page and web-based App ‘Practices Guidelines'.

The MNGCOP provides opportunities for professional linkages with other jurisdictions across Australia to ensure professional liaison and continuity within perinatal services across Australia.
