Eligibility

To apply for TPPP, Registered Nurses (RNs) must meet the following criteria at the time of application:

  • Complete your nursing studies between January 2023 and February 2024 that will lead to initial registration as a RN with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
  • Complete no more than 456 hours (3 months full time equivalent) of paid experience as a RN in any setting within Australia/New Zealand.
    Hours of paid experience completed outside of Australia/New Zealand are not counted if the applicant is required to retrain in Australia to obtain Ahpra registration.
  • Complete no more than 3 months of a graduate nurse program (or equivalent) previously in any setting and in any country.
  • Apply outside the ‘employment exclusion period’ after taking a Targeted Voluntary Separation Package (TVSP) from the SA Government.

  • 14 August - Applications open
  • 3 September - Applications close
  • 4 - 15 September - Application assessment period
  • 23 October - First round of provisional offers
  • late October - Second round of provisional offers (if required)

Locations and specialty programs

Each LHN offers a variety of specialty programs across different locations/sites. The number of positions available will vary according to service and operational needs of the LHNs.

When completing your application form you will be asked to select your location/site preferences. Based on this, you will be prompted to choose your preferred specialty program(s), secondary location and intake date(s).

Opportunities external to SA Health

The government is committed to ensuring that all graduate nurses and midwives seeking employment in South Australia are afforded every opportunity, therefore SA Health is taking a broader approach to the facilitation of TPPP candidates for the 2024 clinical year.

In addition to nominating Local Health Network (LHN) and site preferences, nursing candidates will also have the opportunity to select an option to be considered for private and aged care sector TPPP places. This can be done by choosing “Opportunities external to SA Health” as one of the Location Preference options and nominating your choice of sector.

A list of participating organisations will be published once confirmed.

The Role Description outlines the selection criteria for the RN1 position and is used in the assessment of TPPP applications.
