Country Health SA Clinical Coding Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded in areas of identified workforce need and are intended for our employees who have a strong commitment to continued professional practice in rural and remote areas.

We are inviting applications for Clinical Coding Scholarships now available in specific locations and open to casual, temporary or ongoing employees of CHSALHN.

Up to eight scholarships will be offered in the following hospitals. These locations were selected based on significant Clinical Coding workforce shortages:

  • Berri
  • Gawler
  • Mount Barker
  • Mount Gambier
  • Murrary Bridge
  • Port Augusta
  • Port Lincoln
  • Port Pirie
  • South Coast
  • Whyalla

Scholarship funds will be used towards the cost of studying Certificate IV in Clinical Classification. This is a part time course studied over two years commencing in March 2019.

We are seeking applications from Country Health SA employees with a genuine interest in Clinical Coding. Coding is a complex and specialised area and staff working in this area thoroughly enjoy their work, although Coding is not suited to everyone. Therefore, we are encouraging intending applicants to discuss this opportunity with their Administration Manager and local Clinical Coders to learn about what is involved in Coding.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Clinical Coding Scholarship 2019 Intake will open for applications on Friday 14 December 2018 and close Friday 18 January 2019. To apply, please access the application form.
