Data incident

SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) has been notified of a data loss relating to some ambulance attendances between 2000 and 2003.

The data was on an external storage device stolen from a consultancy firm earlier this year. SAPOL investigated the theft and unfortunately the data remains unrecovered.

There has been no evidence that any of the data has been used inappropriately since the theft.
The data loss was reported to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, in compliance with the Notifiable Data Breaches Scheme, and the Privacy Committee of South Australia.

All affected individuals have been contacted by SAAS by phone or letter to provide further information and support. SAAS will only ever communicate in this way (phone/mail) with the individuals.
