Limestone Coast Local Health Network response to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

As part of our response to COVID-19, arrangements for visitors across Limestone Coast LHN sites are listed below:

Visitors are not permitted if:

  • They are feeling unwell
  • They have returned from overseas in the past 14 days
  • They have returned from interstate in the past 14 days (travel from WA, NT and Tas exempt, however if travelling via another state this exemption does not apply)
  • They have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the past 14 days
  • They have a fever or symptoms of acute respiratory infection, e.g. cough, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath.

Please note visitors must practice physical distancing and remain 1.5m between each person.

Specific restrictions for acute settings, maternity, aged care and palliative care are as follows:

Acute settings:

  • All visitors will be screened on arrival
  • Victorian visitors must have SAPOL approval prior to attending the site and are required to wear Level 1 mask at all times
  • Visits in patient room only
  • Visiting hours from 1 - 2pm and 6 - 8pm only
  • Number of visitors per inpatient: Two people per day
  • Number of visitors per Emergency Department patient/outpatient: One person per day
  • 15-minute visits maximum
  • No entry if you are unwell
  • Children under 16 may only attend with specific permission in exceptional circumstances – exemption required
  • Lounge areas closed

Please see the Nurse Manager / After Hours Co-ordinator or Senior Nurse on duty to discuss possible exemptions.

Maternity:

  • A partner or one (1) support person is excluded from visitor restrictions above during the labour and immediate post-delivery time frame, but access is only to the mother’s room. We request that partners/support people do not attend other parts of the site (including aged care and other ward areas).

Aged Care:

  • All visitors will be screened on arrival
  • Victorian visitors must have SAPOL approval prior to attending the site and are required to wear Level 1 mask at all times
  • Visits in resident rooms, outdoors or an agreed area only
  • Visiting hours from 1 - 4pm
  • 2 visitors per resident at any given time during visiting hours
  • Visitors aged under 16 may enter
  • No entry if you are unwell
  • No entry if you have not had your influenza vaccination
  • No large groups or group activities

Palliative care patients or residents

  • Requests to visit will be considered on a case by case basis, and in consultation with the person’s family and next of kin.
  • The senior nurse for each site will consider each request and discuss how all parties’ wishes can be met, wherever possible.
